KVM solutions
KVM solutions are not one-size-fits-all. Depending on the scale, the number of workstations and the desired flexibility, you can choose from different types of systems. We explain them below.
How do you choose the right solution?
The right choice depends on your workflow, scale and technical requirements. Start by answering a few questions: how many workstations are there? How many servers or computers need to be connected? Does the connection need to support multiple locations? Is high-resolution video required?
Small setups where a single machine needs to be operated remotely work well with point-to-point extenders. Where multiple users need access to multiple systems, a matrix solution is often the best choice. Desktop switches are ideal for simple, small-scale applications, whilst IP KVM offers the most flexibility and scalability for remote or distributed environments.
When choosing a system, it is also important to consider future growth. A matrix or IP solution can be expanded more easily later on than point-to-point extenders.
