Angry Audio has released a new microphone processor designed for use with three popular Electro-Voice microphone models often used in radio broadcasting. The REbel processor is tailored for RE20, RE27, and RE320 microphones, following the previous introduction of a similar processor for Shure SM7 microphones, called SMooth. In the case of the REbel, Angry Audio has developed DSP algorithms to enhance the unique characteristics of EV microphones. Subsequently, the adjustment bands have been carefully designed for precise sound tuning, making the setup easier. The processor is known for its high-quality microphone preamplifier, offering significant gain, low distortion, ample headroom, and a noise level only 1.5 dB higher than the theoretical minimum. There's an innovative Room Control feature that acts like a mixer. Turning it clockwise adds more ambient sound to the signal, while turning it counterclockwise reduces the presence of the environment. The processor's compressor is adjustable, ranging from a "natural" setting to a "massive" one. It also includes a de-esser to reduce sibilance and a finely-tuned high-pass filter to eliminate rumble and background noise while preserving the subtleties of the voice. Additionally, a "sparkle" switch has been added to introduce brightness to the sound.
